Seventy Faces – Dividing Words

Rabbi Trugman – Shares really interesting word re-arrangements from existing words in the Torah and Tanach. For example, one name for Pesach (Passover), which is coming up shortly, is “Chag Aviv” (Holiday of Spring). If you take the first letter of the word Aviv which is Alef (one) that represents Avraham, the second letter which is Beit (two) represents Yitzchak and Yaakov, the last two letters Yud and Beit (twelve) are the twelve tribes. This all is the start of the Jewish people which happened in the first month of Nissan in Egypt where we became a nation. Additionally, the same word Aviv can be divided the first two letters Aleph plus Beit or Av which means father and the last two letters Yud and Beit which means twelve equals the father of the 12 or the first of the twelve months of the Hebrew calendar which is again the first month of Nissan where the Jewish calendar started as a nation in Egypt. Many more neat examples in the video.

Seventy Faces – Small Letters

Rabbi Trugman – Tells us the significance of the small letters in the Torah. Additionally, the little aleph which is at the beginning of Leviticus which occurs on Rosh Chodesh Nissan and the many allusions of why its little including that Moshe wrote it small as an act of humility (Hashem is humble and Moshe emulates Hashem). Seventy Faces – The Shapes of the Letters

Rabbi Trugman – Although many people do not realize it, Hebrew is a pictorial language where the form of each letter has great significance. Along with the names of the letter and their numerical equivalents, the shapes of the letters shed great light on a word’s composition and hold within their forms many deep and profound secrets.

Personal Thoughts – This lecture contains some really interesting ideas about the Hebrew letters and their deeper meaning. At the beginning of the class, Rabbi Trugman shows how the letter Beit is actually contained inside the letter Peh and the analogy of Hashem speaking out the Beit in Breisheit (the first word in the Torah).

Double Feature Monday – Rabbi Trugman and Rabbi Mizrachi

Although these two videos are from the readings at the end of the Torah they still have some relevant ideas we can take into the post Chagim (Jewish Holidays) timeframe. Both present some valuable information to improve ourselves in this New (Jewish) Year. Our Sages emphasize for us to take what we learned during the Chagim (Jewish Holidays) and sprinkle those ideas throughout this upcoming Year so that what we learned is not only internalized but dispersed in practice through higher mitzvah observance and improved Midot (character traits).
