Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac – At around the 17:00 minute mark of the today’s Daf Yomi shiur video – Rabbi Zajac discusses the ATBASH formula for figuring out what days of the week the Jewish holidays fall out on that year.
Rebbetzin Rochel Silber – Shares an important suggestion (around the 8:18 time point of the video) on how those living in chutz la’Aretz (living outside of the Land of Israel) can stay more connected to Israel and the Jewish people. When projectile is fired upon the Land of Israel from Israel’s enemies an app on a mobile phone sounds a warning which them may or may not result in an actual siren to take cover. The Rebbetzin suggests downloading this app (called Red Alert) so you can also be aware of your bretherin in Israel being under a warning. Great suggestion to stay connected.
Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky – Shares an important question – particularly for Baali Teshuva (newly religious) who then have children who want to go off the path. The Rabbi states clearly how important it is to show love and respect and play the long game. Clearly a compassionate response to the question that requires compassion.
Rabbi Breitowitz – Shares the mitzvah of eradicating Amalek and it’s direct relation to Purim (being that Haman harasha is a direct descendant of the Amalek king Agag. In last week’s haftarah portion we read about the story of Shaul Hamelech (King Saul) and his misplaced compassion for not killing King Again – the moral of the story being when misplaced compassion of human beings instead of following Hashem’s instructions in the Torah’s mitzvot can result in devastating consequences (Haman harasha) of potentially wiping out the entire Jewish people (G-d forbid). The Torah is not just a history book – it’s a lesson for present living as we can see clearly in our present time.
