!Short Clips! Vaeschanan: What If Hashem Says “Yes”? | Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky

Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky – Shares about the parasha we just read on Shabbat and Moshe asking Hashem to go in the Land of Israel and Hashem basically telling him to stop praying. The Rabbi then asks a simple with a simple scenario – if one keeps praying until Hashem says one more prayer and I’ll have to grant your prayer – would one stop to pray? Doesn’t seem to make sense. Hashem tells Moshe that exact thing but then basically says He doesn’t want Moshe to enter the Land because it’s not Hashem’s will. So on the one hand if Moshe keeps praying he’ll get what he wants (to enter the Land) but on the other Moshe realizes that ultimately Hashem doesn’t want that.

Pregnant Anger – Vaeschanan (Rabbi Dovid Kaplan) (Weekly Parsha)

Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares that prayer works – not just figuratively but tangibly – which is sourced in a comment by Rashi at the very beginning of the Torah when Adam prayed for rain so the foliage would grow. This is why Hashem gave a mitzvah to Moshe Rabbeinu to not prayer anymore to go into Eretz Yisroel – because it works because Hashem says it works.
