A Fish on Land – Nitzavim (Rabbi Dovid Kaplan) (Weekly Parsha)

Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares the daily question of choosing life and planning on doing mitzvot resulting in a happy fufilled life. Do the job consistently and do YOUR job (not someone else’s job). Also, find the answer of what is better to give $1,000 tzedaka to one person or $1 tzedaka to 1,000 people. Hint – who is the mitzvah for – for the receiver or the giver (therein lies the answer).

!Shabbat Shalom! Why No Mention of World to Come (I) by Rabbi Dr Akiva Tatz

Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz – Shares several interesting concepts as it pertains what the Torah actually does not say about the World to Come and what that means for us practically speaking in this World. Including interesting perspective of the Rambam and how what it states in the Torah about reward is actually expenses and not the reward for our deeds. Also, nice story about the Chofetz Chaim. A large portion of this class sources parts of this week’s upcoming Torah portion (Ki Savo).

Fascinating Snippets:

Everything is the higher World has its reflection here in the lower World. For example, the caterpillar and the butterfly showing us the transition from this World to the World to come: https://www.youtube.com/embed/FBlQ5CnktrA?start=990&autoplay=1

The Mysterious Eliyahu – Parshas Devarim (Rabbi Dovid Kaplan) (Weekly Parsha)

Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares interesting aspects of this past Shabbat’s weekly parasha. One of the interesting ideas is why do our Sages say that while Moshe Rabeinu was 10 amot tall and Pharaoh was 1 amot tall. The example he gives is his experience meeting celebrities who were “larger than life” but in person they were very small. Similarly, Pharaoh was the leader the most important country in the World at this time but was very small, while Moshe Rabeinu was the humblest person to ever walk the Earth but was large in stature.
