!Short Clips! Proof of the Torah’s Truth – Parshat Behar – Rabbi Yaakov Asher Sinclair

Rabbi Sinclair – Shares how in this week’s upcoming Torah portion (Behar) we learn about the description of Shmitta (letting the Land of Israel lie fallow every seven years) as being a law give at Har Sinai (Mount Sinai). The proof is that for the first 42 Shmitta cycles (hundreds of years) the promise Hashem gave the Jewish people that the sixth year crop will last for three years came true without fail. Therefore, we deduce that since that law given at Har Sinai to the Jewish people unfailingly came to fruition we can confidently assume all the other laws in the Torah that were also given are valid as well. These laws have never changed and are still valid today – Hashem has given us free choice to follow them (or not – chas ve’shalom).

!Short Clips! Living With The Times – Pesach Sheni – We All Have Another Chance

Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman – Shares what the minor holiday of Pesach Sheni (the second Passover) that starts tonight (TUE night) and is only for one day (unlike Pesach that lasts for seven days). Pesach Sheni is about the fact that there are always second chances no matter how far away we may be spiritually from our heritage. Even our dwelling in Eretz Yisroel is Hashem’s gift of a second chance to live in our Land.

Shavuos and Freedom (HaRav Yitzchak Breitowitz)

Rabbi Breitowitz – Shares how Pesach to Shavuot (through the process of the Omer) is not freedom from something (to do whatever we want) but freedom to something (the freedom to choose). This is analagous to the barley offering on the first day of the Omer (which is animal food) to the wheat offering on Shavuot (which is human good). Do we want to be freedom to be whatever we want (to be an animal) or freedom to serve (to be a human)? The process of refinement (the counting of the Omer for 49 days) helps us make that journey from animal to human culminating with the giving on the Torah on Shavuot (the ultimate human endeavor as a Jew).

!Shabbat Shalom! Perfect Marriages – Emor (Rabbi Dovid Kaplan) (Weekly Parsha)

Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares about how the Kohen Gadol is the closest representative on Earth to Adam Ha-rishon before the original sin (who represented perfection). Adam was not subject to death or illness and was to be eternally married to Chava (Eve) prior to that original sin. The Kohen Gadol reminds us of that in that he was restricted from marrying only someone who was never with a man before, could not be in contact with anyone (even a close family member) who dies, and could not serve in the Beis Hamikdash (the Temple) if he had a physical imperfection (parallel to an illness).

!Short Clips! Awaiting The Coming of The Messiah – Rabbi Daniel Glatstein

Rabbi Daniel Glatstein – Shares about how the only mitzvah in the Chumash that says that Hashem is doing is waiting for the Geula (the redemption/coming of Moshiach) and therefore when we also anticipate this we are emulating Hashem and this action/thought/prayer in and of itself helps make it happen.

Sadducees & Karaites (HaRav Yitzchak Breitowitz)

Rabbi Breitowitz – Shares about a very well known machloket (disagreement) when it comes to when we start counting the omer (the day after Shabbat vs. the day after the first day of Pesach) between the Sudducees and the mainstream Jewish authorities during our history. This is further expounded on by the Rav by explaining who the Sadducees and Karaites were, when they started, what they stood for, where they are today, and where they went wrong.

!Short Clips! 2,500 Year Old Seeds Come to Life – Rabbi YY Jacboson

Rabbi Jacobson – Shares a story of 2,500 year old seeds that were planted in Israel and grew, were blessed, and were eaten. The history of these seeds parallels a lot of Jewish history and the lessons of Jewish continuity in Eretz Yisroel. We can learn a lot from cherishing our history by it guiding us how to live today.
