Shulchan Aruch, Chapter 158: Dinei Netilas Yadayim !Short Clips! by Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac

Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac – Very interested short video explaning when we say brachot (blessing) after Rabbinic mitzvot (ie. Shabbat candles, Chanukah candles, Hallel, Lulav) and why do we say that Hashem commanded us to say a Rabbinically based mitzvah. Furthermore, these brachot are said before the mitzva which contrasts with the bracha we say after we wash our hands (netilat yadayim) is preparation to eat bread. Rabbi Zajac explains why there is this before and after difference.

Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac !Short Clips!

Shulchan Aruch, Din Makom Hara’oy L’hispalel v’Holeich BaDerech

In these three short videos, Rabbi Zajac explains one’s conduct in Shul (the Synagogue) both inside, on the way to, and/or when one is exempt from. It’s helpful to learn the sources of a lot of what we observe others do in and around shul attendance and to understand that those (sometimes “strange”) behaviors have sources that are based on spiritual foundations.

Why to pray in Shul specifically:

Shulchan Aruch, Dinei Birkas haTorah 47:1 – Laws Relating to the Blessings for Torah Study, Part 1

Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac – The Rabbi explains why the Alter Rebbe insisted that we be very careful how we properly say the blessings before we start learning Torah. The reason is it was one of the reasons the Jews were driven into exile after the destruction of the 2nd Temple. How does this even make sense? He further says – the source of this is in the Talmud that it is as if Hashem Himself explained it directly to those learning his Torah. Chassidus explains that Torah is G-dliness en-clothed in words. It’s not that we didn’t learn Torah it’s that we didn’t keep it on the front of our mind that we are learning Hashem’s words and connecting with His very essence when we learn Torah.

!Short Clips!

Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac – Within the context of how to erase what has been written on parchment (Torah, Tefillin, and Mizuzot), the Rabbi tells us a life lesson as well – that (paraphrasing) “sometime we have to wait until our mistake has dried before doing teshuva on it”.

Rabbi David Yisrael Kalmus – Shares how our prayers for our zivug (life partner) is intimately tied to our success in parnasa (sustenance) – daily focused prayer (Hibodidut) to Hashem is essential for both to be fruitful.
