Pidyon Haben Ceremony 2024 (Rabbi Dovid Kaplan)

Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares about the ceremony called a Pidyon Haben which directly comes from the Torah (Mitzvah D’Oraita). If you are a first born son you may be required to have this relatively simple ceremony performed by a Kohen (a member of the priestly tribe decending from Aaron Hakohen). There are some disqualifying attributes that nulify the need for this ceremony which Rabbi Kaplan explains in the video. The person in the video who is the main participant in the ceremony is newly religious (Bal Teshuva – returning to Hashem) and realized he did not have this done when he was a baby and has taken it upon himself to right this error.

Environmental Influence – Tetzaveh (Rabbi Dovid Kaplan) (Weekly Parsha)

Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares about how the concept of clothing is actually a negative reflection of the original sin of Adam and Eve, how much we are influenced by our environment particularly how we and others are dressed, and how important the clothing by the Kohen Gadol and the environment in the Beis Hamikdash (Temple) affects our level of teshuva (repentance).

!Short Clips! Living With The Times – Mystical Secrets of Clothing

Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman – Shares how G-d is “enclothed” in the physical world which is a miracle in and of itself. The various gematrias (“Jewish numerology”) enforce that view. The clothing of the Kohanim that are explained in this week’s upcoming parasha (Titzaveh) are an example of the spiritual manifesting itself in a physical item for the benefit of humanity.

!Short Clips! Major Divine Laws By Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi

Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi – In this !Short Clips! Rabbi Mizrachi explains the concept of how one benefits not from his actions but from the “fruit” of his actions and also suffers from the “fruit” of his bad actions. We learn this in the very beginning of the Torah with Cain and Abel – when Cain killed Abel, Hashem talks about Cain spilling “bloods” in the plural and not “blood” in the singular – which shows the “fruits” of Cain’s bad actions killing Abel and all his potential descendants.

The Afterlife

Today is the Yahrzeit of my Aunt (Mrs. Rhoda Golden – רחל בת ניסן ז”ל) who was niftara (passed on) one year ago today according to the Hebrew calendar. May her neshama have an aliyah (לעילוי נשמת).

Personal Thoughts – My Aunt was a kind and gentle soul who in the 53 years I knew her never saw her to become angry with me or anyone else for that matter. This is a very high midah (character trait) that is almost unheard of. In the process over the past year of saying kaddish for her everyday in Shul (the Synagogue) I got to develop an even deeper relationship with her, spiritually speaking. Hoping her neshama has an aliyah (her spirit reaches greater heights in gan eden (heaven)).

It is suggested by our Sages to learn some Torah in her honor on her yahrtzeit as this elevates the soul of the deceased. You can find many opportunities to read or watch a video here on www.torah-Share.com or many other websites on the Internet such as www.chabad.org or www.aish.com.
