Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky – Shares the softer approach to bringing the Chagim from last month into the rest of the year. How we can change our perspective and guide us to a deeper understand on how to improve while still aligning ourselves to G-d’s will.
Rabbi David Kaplan – Shares towards the end of video, an analysis of Sarah Imenu laughing when hearing that she would have a child (Yitzchak) at 100 years old. Ramban says when she hear it from what she thought were desert wanderers she should have simply said “Amen” instead of cynically laughing. The morale of the story is that anything is possible for Hashem and although it may be unlikely for us we must say it is still possible no matter how remote something seems to be.
Rabbi David Kaplan – In these videos, Rabbi Kaplan discusses many different aspects of this past week’s Torah portion (Noach) – both the concepts of the spiritual transition from the beginning of the Torah (Breisheit) and from before and after the mabul (the flood).
The Merits of Suffering – The True Power of Prayer:
Rabbi Jay Yaacov Schwartz – Shares about the transition from the very active Hebrew month of Tishrei and all the current events that occurred during that period of time into the new Hebrew month of Cheshvon and how we invest what happened in Tishrei into the rest of the Hebrew year.
Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi – Starting about the 30 minute mark of the video, Rabbi Mizrachi shares about the first parasha of the Torah as we begin it anew (Breisheit – Genesis). One of the interesting historical stories in Breisheit is Adam Harishon living until 930 years even though he was supposed to live 1,000 years. What happened to those 70 years? When Adam sinned eating the fruit from the tree of good and bad he realized he had sinned and that only way to rectify that sin was from the coming of Moshiach (the Messiah). That Messiah must come from the House of David (King David) so Adam “donated” 70 years from his life to King David so he could live and start the Davidic line that could only come from him and bring the redemption which eventually rectifies Adam’s original sin.
Rabbi Breitowitz – Shares the ideal system of learning and the contrast with the practical system of learning. The Rav adds that the current (Rav) Silberman system is a great option for those who have young children to start from scratch.
Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky – Shares how during these ten days how Hashem is very close to us (and figuratively speaking when the shofar blows at the end of Yom Kippur Hashem “goes away”). This opportunity we have is now to take advantage of Hashem’s closeness and show how we can become the person we are meant to be.
Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi – Shares about what we can try to accomplish over the next ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This video is full of mussar (character trait building). The ability to work on ourselves during this period of time is amplified compared to the rest of the year – opening up a rare yearly opportunity to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.
Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky and Rabbi Daniel Glatstein – Both share about today’s fast today (Tzom Gedaliah) including both a numerology explanation and a practical guide to how Hashem come knocking – the question is are we answering or ignoring?
