A New Cycle of Torah Has Begun – Current Events, War, and a Significant Threat to the Jewish Nation By Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi

Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi – Starting about the 30 minute mark of the video, Rabbi Mizrachi shares about the first parasha of the Torah as we begin it anew (Breisheit – Genesis). One of the interesting historical stories in Breisheit is Adam Harishon living until 930 years even though he was supposed to live 1,000 years. What happened to those 70 years? When Adam sinned eating the fruit from the tree of good and bad he realized he had sinned and that only way to rectify that sin was from the coming of Moshiach (the Messiah). That Messiah must come from the House of David (King David) so Adam “donated” 70 years from his life to King David so he could live and start the Davidic line that could only come from him and bring the redemption which eventually rectifies Adam’s original sin.

Selichos Sicha (Harav Yitzchak Breitowitz)

Rabbi Breitowitz – Shares some interesting details about the selicos that we do until Yom Kippur. The Rav points out that it is designed as an actual extra prayer service (Ashrei, Kaddish, Slichos content, Tachanun, Kaddish Shaleim) in addition to the three (Shacharit, Mincha, Maariv) that we do daily. Therefore, during this period of item, yom chol (weekday) prayer days are consisting of four (instead of the usual three).

Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky – In the first video answering listener’s questions, Rabbi Orlofsky expounds on the Rosh Hashana plan of Rabbi Salanter in how to make a change this coming year using the following formula:

  1. Ask yourself what is your life’s mission?
  2. Vow to make one small easy consistent daily change?
  3. Vow to make a bigger change but only for the ten day time period between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur?
  4. Write 1, 2, and 3 down on the piece of paper.

In the second video, Rabbi Orlofsky references the movie “The Matrix” to encourage us to not live a life of lies and self deception but to focus on what’s real because that is what matters most. The distractions of this World take us out of what’s real and sidetrack us towards regret and sadness. Pursue reality – pursue true joy.
